CHANEL FUSCO VISITS THE XPOSURE

Rising RnB, Soul and Jazz star Chanel Fusco came in to see us on the Xposure. We got to have a Q and A seesion with her but best of all she sang 4 songs for us LIVE with Backup (Caroline) and instrumentalists ( Eric on bass and Stuart on guitar). The performances were nothing short of amazing. We've had many talented and excellent guests on the show but this is a personal favourite of the team. What the heck is wrong with people that they don't realise how STUPID they are being. Seemingly obsessed with demonstrating sexual prowess by humping inanimate objects, recording it on video so it ends up being uploaded to a video site so countless people can see it. Whats the point of it ? So you can hump some furniture or a pillow. Shouldn't this be something you should keep to yourself ?.



When asked about the reasons why this group did what they did it seemed that they were fans of the group Pretty Ricky and thought that this could bring them fame and money. All it bought them in the end was, not surprisingly, ridicule and notoriety for being a bunch of dumbasses. They also thought that girls would think they were sexy. Show this to a female and let me know what they think. Still, months later and following a plethura of spoofs including this excellent pisstake ....



..a new video has surfaced showing further foolishness in the same vein. Some fat guy decided that this is the way to garner the attention of females and make you look like a stud-muffin beyond all compare . The difference this time is that there is no furniture involved. Just a boy, a camcorder, some sexy music and his pillow. The result is nothing short of ...well you make up your mind..





If you or someone you know is thinking of doing this crap please feel free to do so. Just don't get mad when it's found and posted to 14 million people all of which think you're a dopey shit who can't find a real woman to relieve your stress with.

If this isn't an advert to make sure your kids read books and study a bit harder rather than being bone idle with your time and doing shit like this .. I don't know what is .

HIPHOP on ORANGE UNSIGNED : What's the F*ckin point!!?

Orange UnsignedAct is another "competition" where artists perform every week and judges vote off the people they didn't like. HipHop, this year, made it to the final ten. But today I saw the reason why it doesn't regularly reach those levels in competitions like this .As long as the said hiphop artist is doing "poppy" type rap music then they stand a chance it seems. However the 3 judges on OrangeUnsignedAct really pissed me off.

Regardless of lyrical content flow and delivery, only the pop-factor seems to matter to Lauren Laverne, Simon Gavin and Alex James. The idea that these 3 authorities on Music don't seem to understand urban contemporary music beyond the level of Will Smith. From the get go they seemed to use this years rap entrant as little more than a token hiphop presence.

My point is why don't they ever just say : " No hiphop artists unless you are out and out pop because we neither respect or understand that genre". One of the judges tried to argue that "scratchin" is not relevant in 2008 rap music and have the sheer ignorant effrontery to described it as that "wigga-wigga-noise" At that point I knew that there would be no more black music in this years contest because record label bosses wouldn't know how to market it even if it won the whole thing. I wouldn't have minded if they really just didn't like it but they showed me they didn't know what they were listening to.


At the very least Pyrelli got some exposure out of it as he took his rejection like a man and didn't appear to be too fazed by the decision. I hope that R&B and hiphop artists don't stop entering after the bulls*t I've just witnessed because these buffoons need to open up their minds a little bit more or select better judges with larger tastes than these indy-rock focused judges.
Changing Alex James for Damon Albarn would be a great start as they aware from the same group yet Damon went on to create the Gorillas when embraces different styles of music.

Now we all know music has a tendancy to lend itself to past successes . Producers will use a formula over and over again and thats okay as I've come to expect it.

MY SERATO STORY

There comes a time in every old school DJs life when technology stares them dead in the face and chellenges them to jump on board . I've been a crate digger and vinyl head for longer than i care to remember and have always championed the value of learning the art and science of DJing with the big black discs. Getting your hands on the music. and manipulting that media something that until very recently , you coul'nt even begin to do or experience with CDs. CDs were hailed as the vinyl-killer i i had a near complete contempt for any so called dj that had never touched plastic. Now the MP3 's have kicked in and certain dj's are running round london pressing automix buttons while they pretend to do something (like twiddling controls or messing with effects)- Hell, If I lined 'em up right,my iPod could do that
So - Why this blog entry??
Well Late 2007 I'd just finished playing at the now defunct CC club in Piccadilly and I was making my way back to my car with about 3 bags of records. I bumped into another DJ I know used to play vinyl, he was happy because he had one bag of cds-as back up- and his back pack had a serato box and his laptop in it. Light as a feather in comparison. 10 minutes later and feeling a little more tired than before.. i bump into another ex vinyl head .. stopped for a chat ( and to catch my breath). Once again he had a wheely box with just serato and macbook in it. I know in the states .. a shit load of djs use serato ..and after a return to the road after xmas and NYE i found myself carrying tunes again . I sat and thought hard weighing up the pros and cons and realised that If I get booked internationally again I'd rather not pay the excess charge like I did on the way to stockholm.. and I'd rather not lug all my shit down Regent street again. I'd rather save my precious vinyl and my back.

I decided -I'm going SERATO. Me!! the Vinyl preacher!! I still get to play like it is plastic but wont have to walk like I'm carrying it all .

I'll let you know how it goes.

THIS IS GARBZ!! - any publicity is good publicity

Somewhere back in 2006, Ryan leslie was over here in the UK promoting himself and doing a mini club tour. During this period of time he met up with a guy called Sean Garber a.k.a Garbz. Garbz met with ryan with a view to possibly working with the Nextselection life style group in some way shape or form. However Ryan felt the need to submit this HEAVILY EDITTED video clip. R-les made himself look like a bit of a pr*ck in the way he presented his opinion on what he was looking for in a associate producer. I'm saying this and I'm a big R-les fan. Anyways here's that video of Garbz and R-les meeting on that historic occasion.



Now, inadvertently Garbz had the hopes of a lot of UK producers riding on his shoulders. Even though Mr Leslie seemed to reject the beat collective on offer Garbz did well out of the whole thing IMO . Because of this encounter Garbz gained alot more fans to add to an already impressive number of people that know his work. One of those new fans was me ! New fans not just because alot of people saw the above video and thought that Garbz was treated disrespectfully but more because Sean Garber is fluent on more than one musical instrument and seens to have an uncanny knack or continually putting out good product. Sooner or later something had to give.. and it did . After a lot of hard work and years in this industry Garbz is still knocking out bangers and being commisioned for work...

Text, Lies and Idiot Apes

I recieved a text today from a disgruntled former colleague on my old station claiming that i had publicly disrespected him and his station live on air and then put it on the web. That former colleague should know me better than that after 15 years, especially after working really hard to help build that station's popularity and still occasionally playing on it . I'd spoken to him on the phone and he let me know that this mis-information was given to him by somebody else. I then asked him why he didn't check it for himself as the links are just sitting there for everybody to listen to or download ? I got an unsatifactory answer that didn't make any real sense. I then told him about the show and what was actually said and aired in order to show him that neither himself or the station were referred to or implicated or even hinted at . However,a former dj of said station did call in to the show and aired his own personal greiviences at being ousted but at no point mentioned any names .

I have decided not to engage ,further than this blog entry, in silly schoolyard chinese whispers and he said she said rubbish when the facts are laid out for anybody to check out .

To whoever it was that started this bullsh*t please be aware that adult schools and colleges are available for people like you that have difficulty understanding the rigours of listening and understanding in order to further your chimp-like intelligence before you run back to somebody and tell tales. Oh, and you're a snitch too and hope you have the where-withall to realise this is about you whoever you may be . I don't know or care for your identity .

To my former colleague: You have created a situation that is uneccessaryand maybe you should look a little more before you leap .

We managed to upset a few people some moe this week as we accused women of cheating more than men . and Men that wear man-bags are a bit suspect and too metro.

Rude and Jammers' SNS will be on Westside89.6fm from Sunday 3rd Feb and every sunday!!
Westside have secured the services of Jammer and myself for the forseeable future.
After the 11 years spent on unregulated radio risking life, limb and general freedom we are now happy to relax knowing nobody is going to kick off the door and take our headphones, records and our right to walk around in public!.

Some are worried that we are going to lose something in the transition from pirate to legal. The only thing we have lost is an hour a week. We will do our utmost best to bring you the same vibe the same way but in a tidier package.

We believe there are 3 main reasons anyone bothered to listen to SNS .

• The first is simply that the music is that good and that far ahead of 90+% DJs that play slowjams. there aren't any that can stand up to SNS in that dept.
  
• The second is jammer and me. The banter that you hear is genuine. We are like that all the time in or out of the studio. We don't plan what we are going to say .. it just comes out and you get to hear it .
  
• Thirdly we ask you to get involved because it was then . is now and will be .. as always " to a greater or lesser degree, YOUR SHOW !!".it's always best when the listeners call in.
  

Whichever reason that was.. you knew what you were going to get ..
We aim to make the move without missing a step. To move forward you can't keep a foot in the past.

We'd like to thank all who stuck with us since the 90's or anyone who has locked in on a sunday between 8-11pm, whatever decisions you made about what you heard, good or bad. wether we've made you laugh or pissed you the hell off. SNS helped to build platinum and bashment radio stations and even though we had offers to consider when those stations were off, we didn't move or jump ship. We stuck with what we knew and continued to deliver the show week after week.

I've had the Uness track up here for about a week and asked as many people to vote as I could .
238 visitors to RUDEDJ.COM and this blog participated .
87.5% of the voters agreed that "Taste Your Heartbeat" was going to be Big in 2008 and only 12.5% said "Maybe it's a grower".
Now all I've got to do Is hope that the record company get behind it and push it enough to make Uness a star!!

Jay=z and Beyonce offspring -  !! When/if it actually happens we're really hoping she looks like more like Bey than Jay 

LOOKING GOOD

3rd show in a week!! Jammer and myself were back in the studio again. Which isn't bad considering we are not a permanent fixture to the station yet. We've shown a lot of genuine determination and drive and delivered decent product. We've reviewed every show we've had in order to see what can be improved and what can be completely left out and things are heading in the right direction.

Westside is a breath of fresh air for us as we've been on the pirate circuit for well over a decade and a step forward was overdue. It's a new station and it's yet to bed itself in. I'm glad we are on board at this stage of it's life. We aim to be one of the more popular shows on the station by doing what we've always done and thats to be ourselves.

That's enough of the mission statement-type rant back to what happened .
Once again we played alot of good RnB with no N-Bombs or other cuss-words. Hoorah. Listener participation is rising as we receive more texts and calls. Speaking of calls we had one from someone who used to listen us from a long time ago . And so the word is spreading meaning we are gaining momentum from new listeners and listeners who have rediscovered us on westside. i like to think that the updates on facebook,myspace and right her on rudedj.com have a hand in that. We touched on some news subjects

• Jay-z stepping down as Def Jam boss and marrying Beyonce
• R-Kelly being warned that jail is a real outcome to this trial
• How sex tapes get out...REALLY!!
• The games rumoured retirement
  
• Is Ryan Leslie a Genius ( yes he is)

Diesel or as now dubbed by the Russian locals " Coco Jones" has just returned from Moscow, Russia, for his new years booking.
CitySpace nightclub on top the Swiss Hotel was figuratively blown up by the Doc who headlined the Absolut Vodka New Years Eve Event.
300 ravers including Dance Artist/Dj Sonique enjoyed the House but mainly R&b night. Doc has been invited back due to the success of the event. Pictures coming soon.

You can catch him most weekends playing RED bar - Cabaret & Studio Van Von on Kingly Street behind Hamleys Regent Street and Carbon on a thursday. All in the w1 region

WELCOME TO 2008- another new start

I've seen alot of people get drizzunk.
People falling down
People crying
projectile vommiting
poeple being spun around in shopping trollies
(most of that had something to do with me)

All that and more last night in Harrow's Royal oak New years bash
Best of all it was free

But enough of that .
It's now 2008 and after my little break off the road I am now read to get back on it and start playing in London clubs again but this time on my terms.

Promoters beware.. I am taking back what is mine and if you want to book a little bedroom dj who's fee is baerly a 10 year old's pocket money, then so be it , but when nobody goes back to you club because it was crap , you'll only have yourself to blame . Book someone with a track record and pay that person the amount deserved. I'd rather turn down bookings than to be offered a financial insult.
